The starting gun to the 2025 MSL season rippled through Scott Valley on Saturday as the Novato Riptide rushed into town hoping to hold back a slithery Sea Serpents squad.

The threat of April showers didn’t deter some impressive swimmer superpowers. 11-year-old Ryder Armstrong led the clinic, one of 5 triple-winners from Scott Valley, while a pair of Resslers, Blake and Bryce, combined for 25+ points for Novato. And forget the half-off cafe burgers towards the end of the Meet – the real fire-sale came during the IM with several swimmers shaving several seconds off their best times.

Speaking of the clock: as parents marveled at the 11:53a Meet wrap, the Sea Serpents celebrated a first-week-win and now head to Orca territory. Novato stays on the road to tangle with the Waterdevils, as both teams look for their first victory.

The 2025 Marin Swim League dual meet season officially kicked off yesterday for the Marinwood Waterdevils and Tidalwaves! With all the excitement of the first competition of the season there was excitement in the air throughout the meet as most swimmers, coaches, volunteers, and spectators tried to pretend we didn’t see the gathering clouds above our heads. Clouds? What clouds? Rain? What rain? Just part of our season opening tradition over the last couple years.

Taking it all in stride evidently worked for the swimmers. A combined 750 seconds worth of time drops over each team’s Time Trials times fell like raindrops! While Tidalwaves scored a close point victory (290 to 248), the Waterdevils earned the coveted equally as close improvement victory (42% to 39%) best times.

Tidalwaves thanks the Marinwood Waterdevils for sharing the competition and comradery with us for the day and wish both teams a great season! We look forward to competing with them again at the 50th Celebration of the Marin Swim League Champs meet on June 28th!
